Year 12 Area of Study: Belonging Lecture | 30/10/2010 | Through the belonging lecture students will: 1. Explore conceptual issues such as social, spatial, historical and cultural belonging, and how they culminate to shape personal belonging. 2. Identify the deeper philosophical resonances of the Area of Study thematic concern, and how these aspects can be implemented to highlight the expectations of the syllabus rubric and outcomes. 3. Focus on HOW perceptions and ideas of belonging and alienation are constructed and represented in texts. The application of theoretical concerns will be demonstrated through an analysis of an extract from a potential related text. 4. Year 9 & 10 Maths Skills Tutorials | 17/04/2010 | Maths Skills Tutorials are aimed at reviewing key maths concepts for students in years 9&10. The seminar is 1.5hrs in length and will focus on a particular topic, relevant to the stage of the syllabus currently being studied. Lesson notes containing key concepts and practice questions on the topic covered will be provided. |

Year 11 English ADV & STD Response Writing Seminar | 01/05/2010 | This seminar will guide students to efficiently deconstruct questions by learning to read what questions are specifically addressing. Student will also learn technique to create high-standard responses with a focus on maximising marks. |
Year 12 English ESL Listening Seminar | 08/05/2010 | This course provides Year 12 students with expert advice on how to approach the Listening Paper and ways to develop the necessary skills prior to the final exam. An in-depth discussion of concepts such as register, tone, sound effects, intonation, pronunciation, verbal cues, emphasis will be provided, together with tips on how to listen actively under exam conditions. There will also be a brief discussion on how to approach oral assessment tasks which are an essential component of the English ESL course |
