UAI (ATAR) & SCALING TALK - 27 JUNE 2009

UAI (ATAR) & SCALING TALK - 27 JUNE 2009

Saturday, 27 June 2009

The university rank currently known as the UAI will now be known as the ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank). Matrix is inviting students and parents to attend our talk on UAI (ATAR) & Scaling.

Many students are unaware of the actual scoring or weighting of their subjects that leads to their final UAI (Universities Admission Index) – and that the UAI is not just a way of measuring a student’s academic ability in particular subjects, but is also based on the scaling of different selected subjects.

The UAI (ATAR) & Scaling Talk on 27th June 2009 is a comprehensive guide for students and parents on UAI calculation, scaling of subjects, and the relationship between aggregate scores and UAI.

UAI and Scaling Talk was a success at the inaugural Sydney Morning Herald HSC and Careers Expo 2009. The response was overwhelming after Matrix presented its UAI and Scaling Talk to Expo attendees. The sessions attracted so much positive attention that it was standing room only on all 3 days with up to 600 attendees in each session.

Topics covered include:

  1. What is the ATAR?
  2. Why is UAI being changed to ATAR?
  3. What changes are being made?
  4. How are assessment marks determined for each course?
  5. How is my UAI (ATAR) calculated?
  6. Does my subject choice affect my HSC mark and my UAI (ATAR)?
  7. What is scaling and why is it necessary?
  8. What is the relationship between aggregates, percentiles & UAIs (ATARs)?
  9. How can I maximise my UAI (ATAR)?
  10. How do we convert UAIs to ATARs?
