What is Matrix ATAR & Scaling Seminar?

The university rank currently known as the UAI will now be known as the ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank). Matrix is inviting students and parents to attend our talk on ATAR & Scaling.

Many students are unaware of the actual scoring or weighting of their subjects that leads to their final ATAR – and that the ATAR is not just a way of measuring a student’s academic ability in particular subjects, but is also based on the scaling of different selected subjects.

The ATAR & Scaling Talk on 28th January 2010 is a comprehensive guide for students and parents on ATAR calculation, scaling of subjects, and the relationship between aggregate scores and ATAR.

Topics covered include:

  1. What is the ATAR?
  2. Why is UAI being changed to ATAR?
  3. What changes are being made?
  4. How are assessment marks determined for each course?
  5. How is my ATAR calculated?
  6. Does my subject choice affect my HSC mark and my ATAR?
  7. What is scaling and why is it necessary?
  8. What is the relationship between aggregates, percentiles & ATARs?
  9. How can I maximise my ATAR?
  10. How do we convert UAIs to ATARs?
