Aim
To equip students with the knowledge, vocabulary and critical thinking skills that will assist them in developing their essay writing and question interpretation skills.
To equip students with critical writing and analytical skills that will assist them in refining their essay writing and question interpretation skills.
 
Students will receive
1.     1.5 hours of tuition from our experienced English teacher
2.     An essay writing resource book containing essay templates and information on structure, editing and academic register.

Students will learn to
1.     Recognise the language of critical writing
2.     Construct a framework of expository writing
3.     Plan an effective composition
4.     Organise relevant textual information
5.     Compose effective thesis statements
6.     Compose relevant and structured introductions, paragraphs and conclusions.
7.     Make effective transitions between paragraphs
8.     Conclude with clear evaluative statements
1.     Effectively structure a formal essay and use textual cohesive devices such as repetition, synonyms and connectives.
2.     Use critical reading strategies to identify key information.
3.     Evaluate author’s purpose, audience, attitude and argument.
4.     Compose effective thesis statements.
5.     Create a strong line of argument through paragraphing.
6.     Integrate quotations and paraphrases into their written argument.
