SKYDIVING!!
Saturday, 23 February 2008
As dedicated physics teachers, Derek and DJ went to explore the physics of free-falling bodies first hand.
DJ's experience in aerospace engineering led him to believe that the plane we were in was structurally sound. Nonetheless we threw ourselves out the back door at 14 000 ft or approximately 4 km above the ground.
After nearly a minute of free fall, the parachute opened and we could enjoy the beautiful scenery over the national parklands.
Once on the ground, Neal was keen to go straight back up, but the physicists thought they would consider their calculations more carefully before making another flight without wings.
