MATRIX ENGLISH ESSAY WRITING SEMINAR FOR YEARS 9 AND 10

Essay writing is a key component of HSC English studies. Learn how to write excellent essays in our essay writing seminar.
You will master:
How to write an insightful thesis statement
Effective essay structure
Efficient use of textual evidence
Appropriate academic register
Model essays will be provided, and students will compose their own essay for submission. Individual feedback will be supplied.
Presenter: Niven Kumar
Niven teaches English and Drama at Macquarie University, and is a senior teacher in Matrix Education’s English department. He is currently writing his postdoctoral thesis, and holds a Masters degree, and a Bachelor of Arts(Honours), with majors in English literature and Sociology. His publications include both academic articles and creative short fiction. Niven runs the The Writing Centre at Matrix Education, a forum for developing students’ essay writing and critical analysis skills. He has been teaching English for fifteen years, both in Australia and overseas, and has successfully guided many HSC English students to reach UAI goals beyond their expectations.
