We know exactly what it takes to succeed in the HSC.

Matrix teachers train students to understand key concepts behind the theory, as opposed to memorising information. Matrix Theory Booklets help students to arrive at an in-depth understanding of the syllabus material.

Matrix teachers have HSC exam marking experience and/or extensive experience in writing assessments and exams, and thus they know exactly how to maximise marks in school and HSC exams. Our students are taught the most effective exam techniques. Matrix Work Booklets consist of various exam-style questions to help students practice these skills.

Through repetition and close monitoring, Matrix teachers ensure every student understands and masters all facets of the course content.

Patricia Rockett

Maths

Position:

Head of Mathematics

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science, University of Sydney

Diploma of Education, University of New England

Experience:

Pat has 30 years Mathematics teaching experience within high schools. She has also held a Mathematics Head teacher position for over 20 years. She is an experienced School Certificate and Higher School Certificate Examination marker and has coordinated the Catholic Secondary School Associate (CSSA) Trial Examination for Mathematics. She is a member of the Mathematical Association of NSW (MANSW) and is the author of Matrix Education’s Senior mathematics programs, course materials and assessments.

Why I love to teach at Matrix:

I love working in a friendly and caring environment where there is respect for the individual and this is what Matrix offers its staff and students. The class size is a maximum of 13 which allows me to provide individual attention to our students and assist them more effectively in their learning. It is a pleasure to work with students who love to learn and are willing to take on the many challenges that are offered in the lessons.

Dr Bobby Gaensler

Senior Mathematics Teacher

Master of Arts, Pure Mathematics major, University of Sydney

Ph.D in Mathematics Education, Georgia State University, USA

Experience:

Bobby has approximately 40 years Mathematics teaching experience. She has 13 years experience teaching at NSW high schools including Sydney Girls high school, Wenona Girls School, and Pymble Ladies College; during which she held the post of Mathematics Coordinator. Bobby has 15 years experience of teaching Mathematics at TAFE and has lectured Mathematics at Georgia State University, USA. She is also an Executive Officer at the Mathematical Association of NSW (MANSW).

Why I love to teach at Matrix:

Matrix has a wonderful learning environment. I am constantly surprised by the students here who WANT to learn! The students here are ideal students in every way and the staff are so helpful. I am so happy to be here!

Satha Umakanthan

Maths

Mathematics Teacher

Qualifications:

Diploma of Secondary Education

Bachelor of Science with pure mathematics, applied mathematics and chemistry major

Graduate diploma in information technology software

Experience:

Satha has been teaching Mathematics in NSW secondary schools for over ten years.

Why I love to teach at Matrix:

Satha feels that he has a lot to offer and it is rewarding to see that he can put across his ideas to the dedicated students at Matrix. The system in place at Matrix helps students develop good learning habits to achieve their personal best. Also as a teacher at Matrix he is looked after well.

Julia Squires

Currently undertaking Masters in Secondary Education, Monash University

Julia has 4 years of Mathematics teaching experience in NSW high schools in addition to her 8 years teaching experience in Hong Kong.

Joy Dunkerley

Joy has almost 30 years of Mathematics teaching experience in a variety of public and catholic high schools in addition to 30 years experience of private tutoring.
