We know exactly what it takes to succeed in the HSC.

Matrix teachers train students to understand key concepts behind the theory, as opposed to memorising information. Matrix Theory Booklets help students to arrive at an in-depth understanding of the syllabus material.

Matrix teachers have HSC exam marking experience and/or extensive experience in writing assessments and exams, and thus they know exactly how to maximise marks in school and HSC exams. Our students are taught the most effective exam techniques. Matrix Work Booklets consist of various exam-style questions to help students practice these skills.

Through repetition and close monitoring, Matrix teachers ensure every student understands and masters all facets of the course content.

Physics

Position:

Physics Teacher

Qualifications:

B.Sc. Hons. (Physics),

BComm (economics),

Dip Ed (UNSW)

Background:

Helen has returned to university this year to complete the honours award in physics at the University of Sydney. This follows three years working as a science and senior physics teacher both locally and abroad. Her employment in the UK as physics coordinator involved many unique opportunities, including planned educational visits to both the United Kingdom atomic energy authority (UKAEA) and the large hadron collider at CERN. Helen is planning to strengthen her dedication to teaching and learning physics by beginning a PhD with the University of Sydney next year.

Experience:

Helen has been involved in science and maths tuition since 2001. She is fully qualified as a physics teacher and has taught and prepared students for junior science and HSC physics. Helen is actively involved in many groups which participate in research and development programmes for successful learning in science and is currently undertaking a study involving student conceptions about thermodynamic processes. Her position as physics coordinator in London saw her in charge of developing and establishing the physics schemes of work at her school, and liaising with associated schools, scientific organisations and local businesses. During this time, she also participated in educational research, mentored trainee teachers, and featured on a documentary shown on teachers TV. Helen is now a tutor at the University of Sydney, assisting in the supervision of the progress of first year physics students.

Why I love teaching at Matrix:

Matrix provides a unique environment that is difficult to fully achieve in educational institutions. Although clearly well resourced, focused and committed, Matrix is also supportive, friendly and personal, the perfect conditions for success, and a great place to work.
