Year 10 Mathematics Acceleration Course
This course is available to talented Mathematics students who demonstrate a high level of achievement in a diagnostic test based on the Board of Studies Stage 4 course.
This course aims to provide students with a high level of interest and ability in mathematics with a structured course that covers the core topics in the Number, Patterns and Algebra, Data, Measurement and Space and Geometry strands of the Board of Studies Stage 5.3 course in one year instead of two years.
Participation in this course will ensure that students deepen their mathematical thinking and broaden their experience in mathematics through exposure to more challenging problems and extension work within the topics.
This course will better prepare students for the more rigorous approach and challenges presented in the higher levels of Stage 6 Mathematics. Students commence the Y11 Ext 1 Preliminary Course at the beginning of the Matrix Term 4 which is equivalent to Term 3 at school.
